I was approached to donate to a silent auction benefiting the Children’s Wish Foundation on May 10th. Besides the fact that there will be 2 different burlesque dance troops performing contemporary burlesque to the classic caberet (Me? Invited?!), I was ecstatic to be able to not only attend and support but have the opportunity to use my craft to raise money for an amazing cause.
As a young woman without children I’ve been given only a few glances at the terrifying world that must be parenting. Don’t get me wrong, I cannot wait and want a ridiculous amount of well behaved little boys, and maybe some twins, but I’m beginning to have a greater understanding for the patience and worry and care and love and patience that it must take to be a mother watching children grow. I can’t even imagine how heart breaking it would be to cope with your child being diagnosed with a life-threatening disease. Children’s Wish Foundation grants wishes to children under 18 diagnosed with life-threatening diseases (read more about them here).
A Day to Remember, Can Help A Child Forget.
I figured I should read a little bit about the organization and got stuck on a particular page. I will warn you, I may have gotten a little or a lot teary.
So now its ON, I’m all riled up!
I’ve donated a stylized Lipstick & Lace Outdoor Pin-up Photoshoot. And you better believe the set will be beautiful, and that Evanna Brabbins and Robyn Stewart are going to do fabulous Make-up and Hairstyling.
I’ve been sketching and dreaming, and can’t wait for that highest bidder to let us girls show her how much we appreciate her donation.
